In line with our Privacy Policy, Cerebral Palsy Alliance might reach out to you on the details provided to share information on how you can support our campaigns.

Cerebral Palsy is the most common physical disability in childhood. Right now, there are 34,000 Australians living with this disability.

People with cerebral palsy continue to face discrimination and stigma in school, the workplace and in the community every day.

This constant fight for equality has impact on confidence, opportunities and outcomes for young people.

Every Australian has the right to a bright future, one where they can get an education, a job, and live the life they choose.

It’s time to fight for a bright future for ALL Aussie kids.

Advocacy

People with disability are twice as likely to be unemployed as those without disability. School to work pathways need systemic change for ALL Australians to reach their full potential.

Who you're helping

In Australia, a child is born with cerebral palsy every 20 hours. This life-long disability causes uncontrolled or unpredictable movements, stiff, weak or tight muscles and in some cases shaky movements or tremors.

Cerebral palsy can make everyday activities a challenge. Things like walking, talking and eating, and in some cases, even head and neck control and bladder and bowel control.

Regardless of someone’s physical condition, everyone deserves equality at school and work. Students with cerebral palsy continue to face discrimination and stigma at school.

People with disability in Australia are less likely to finish school and more likely to be unemployed.

We’ve already had a huge win in NSW, where the government has committed to:

  • Clear, consistent, and enforceable guidelines for support around assessments at school and university for students living with disability.
  • Pathways for people living with disability to enter the teaching workforce.
  • A state-wide initiative supporting the development of pathways for students living with disability into government departments.

But we still need real policy change for people with disabilities.

Expanding accessible technologies and creating better pathways from school to work will allow more people with cerebral palsy to reach their full potential.

With you behind us, we’ll keep campaigning to break barriers together!
