Watch Evie’s Story
Meet Evie
Evie is a happy, determined little three-year-old. She loves playing with her new adapted switch-toys, and chasing her older brother in her walking frame. Much to the delight of her devoted mum and dad.
However, the journey to get where Evie is today wasn’t easy. When she was born, things seemed fine, but as the months passed and she missed key milestones, Emma and Jonathan grew concerned and took her to their GP.
Following a whirlwind of tests, assessments and MRIs, Evie was diagnosed with quadriplegic spastic cerebral palsy, one of the most severe forms that affects all four of her limbs. Her parents struggled initially with what this diagnosis would mean for Evie, along with the overwhelming financial pressures of the early intervention therapies Evie desperately required.
Emma and Jonathan were nearly out of savings, forced to choose between therapies, knowing each decision could affect Evie’s future. A decision no parent should have to make.
This all changed when they were put in touch with Cerebral Palsy Alliance (CPA), who provided the critical early intervention therapy Evie and her family desperately needed, completely free of charge.
“CPA got us in so quickly to have an assessment done. All of that was at no out-of-pocket expense to us.
I found out that was because of the kind people who gave donations. It was amazing – all these people who didn’t know Evie but wanted to help her.”
– Emma, Evie’s Mum
A turning point for Evie
Without Early Intervention Therapy, Evie may not have been able to walk, play or communicate with her family. Today, she is walking in her frame and playing with her brother, making remarkable progress.
CPA can only continue providing this life-changing therapy with the support of kind people like you. Today, your gift can help more children like Evie get the early intervention therapy they need to thrive.
Please send your gift today to make a wish come true this Christmas for a child with CP.
The Impacts of Early Intervention Therapy
For children with cerebral palsy, early intervention therapy is a lifeline. Without it, they risk missing crucial developmental windows.
Typically, private therapy costs around $200 per hour, and with many children needing multiple sessions per week, the financial burden can be overwhelming. Evie needed three therapy sessions every week, and before the family found CPA these costs were forcing decisions no family should ever have to make.
“We had nearly exhausted our savings. We were faced with impossible decisions – whether to stop one form of therapy just to keep another going. Every choice felt like it could affect Evie’s entire future.” – Emma, Evie’s mother
Every day another child is born with CP, and another family is faced with impossible choices. Your donation today will help more children like Evie access the urgent therapy they need at a crucial time in their development.
Please give today and make their Christmas wish come true.
